Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Tidel. It is short on purpose, and written to be read rather than skipped.
The three that matter most. Tidel is a training tool, not official timing. Never operate your phone while riding. Your ride data is yours, and you can take it with you or delete it at any time.
1. Who this is with
Tidel is developed and operated by Magnus Linnerud Støme, Norway (“Tidel”, “we”). By installing or using the app you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
2. What Tidel is
Tidel records or imports a motocross session and turns it into lap times, sector times, speed and line analysis. It is a training aid for riders.
It is not a race timing system, not a safety device, not a navigation system, and not a medical or fitness-assessment product. Nothing it shows should be treated as an official result or as health advice.
3. Beta
Tidel is currently in beta. That is not a formality: features will change, some will be removed, and bugs will exist. We may change or discontinue parts of the service. We try hard not to lose data — but keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose. The app can export your entire history under More → Backup.
4. Your account
Tidel creates an anonymous account for you automatically; there is no sign-up. If you attach an email address and password, you are responsible for keeping the password to yourself and for what happens under your account.
You may delete your account at any time — see tidel.no/delete-account. We may suspend or close an account that is used to break these terms, to attack the service, or to harm other users.
5. Your data is yours
Your rides, lap times, notes and telemetry belong to you. You grant Tidel only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store your data, process it into the analysis you asked for, and show it back to you and to the people you deliberately share it with.
We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we never publish your rides, your lap times, your heart rate or your GPS traces. Two things can become public, and only through section 6: the geometry of a track you add, and the rider name you have chosen, shown as a credit on it. See the Privacy Policy for the detail.
6. The shared track catalogue
Tidel keeps a public catalogue of tracks: name, position, outline, finish line and sector boundaries. When you ride somewhere new, or correct a track’s layout, that track geometry becomes part of the shared catalogue and other riders can use it. You grant us a perpetual, non-exclusive right to keep and distribute that geometry as part of the service.
This covers track information only. It never includes your GPS trace, your lap times or your account. If you have entered a rider name, it is published alongside the tracks you add, as a credit — leave it blank under More → Rider if you would rather not be named. The geometry stays in the catalogue if you later delete your account, with your name and account removed from it.
7. Riding is dangerous. Your attention belongs to the track.
Do not look at, hold or operate your phone while riding. Start the session before you go out and read the numbers when you are stopped. A lap time is not worth a crash.
Motocross carries a real risk of serious injury or death. That risk is yours and does not change because you are using this app. You are responsible for your own riding, your equipment, your physical condition, and for following the rules of the track you are on. Tidel is not responsible for anything that happens while you ride.
Mount a phone or an external receiver securely if you carry one. Do not use the app in a way that breaks the rules of your club, venue or competition organiser.
8. About the numbers
Lap and sector times come from consumer GPS. They are good enough to compare your own laps with each other, which is what the app is for. They are not transponder timing and should not be used to settle a result, claim a record, or decide a competition.
Accuracy depends on satellite reception, the device you use, tree cover, and where the finish line is placed. Derived figures — such as a lap assembled from your best sectors — are calculations, not laps you actually rode, and the app says so where it shows them.
9. Acceptable use
Do not: use Tidel unlawfully; upload data that is not yours to upload; deliberately corrupt the shared track catalogue; try to access another user’s data; attack, overload or reverse the service; or resell access to it.
10. Price
Tidel is free while in beta. If paid features are introduced later, we will say so clearly in advance, and anything you have already recorded stays accessible to you.
11. Liability
The service is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, lost time, or any loss arising from riding a motorcycle.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, and rights you have as a consumer under mandatory Norwegian and EEA law.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, the date at the top changes. For changes that materially affect your rights, we will tell you in the app rather than relying on you re-reading this page.
13. Law
Norwegian law applies. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your own country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
